Exactly my initial thoughts about generative models "replacing" artists. Everyone hyping it or proclaiming doom seems to forget that we like music and art because someone made it. Whether we consciously think about the person who made it or not, that's what really comes across. We each contain a little universe in our perception, and sharing that perception is what draws us to each other's work.
There will certainly be effective uses of this tech in great art, just like people made drum machines and samplers slap while people where despairing about how inhuman they seemed. Its still all about the love. An algorithm can't replace that.
