i used to be pro "artist" until i started actually using gen ai and learning how it works. A lot of artists are primarily salty because they can't use the tools. A lot of AI art requires you to be proficient in another artform, writing. So now i understand why a lot of drawers are angry about AI but many writers are not although AI has the potential to steal their stuff. AI is just a tool like any other and what its done is its democratized art because now you no longer need to go out and drop 2k on a decent camera , 500 on the lens just to make a picture that compares to a "pro" photographer. Or you no longer need to drop 200 bucks just on quality art supplies. As long as you have a decent midlevel computer and you are a good writer you can produce good or cool looking art, and in the age of twitter, SMS, twitch chat, MOST people AREN'T skilled or even competent writers. Being able to proficiently use AI takes the skill and talent of a film or stage director. Are they not artists? Last time I checked they were.
