Everyone has a dog in this arena, but I wade through the comments section, and barely ever do I see the *Great Hypocrisy* mentioned out loud. (A) If undetected, these AI tools cut through our academic certification procedures like a hot knife through butter. (B) At the same time, AI is so flabby and underpowered, to have to rely upon it to do a real job is smoking a crack pipe. *So let's complete the easy syllogism:* (C) A flabby and underpowered technology, which is hilariously inadequate to assist in performing a real job in the real world, nevertheless cuts through the academic certification gauntlet like a hot knife through butter. Moral of the story: (D) The majority of academic certification (as it now exists) is a long, mostly worthless slog through low-grade busywork, where the uplift mainly comes from grinding, which is opposite to working smart instead of hard.
