Had something like that existed 18 years ago I wouldn’t have been praying over my son full of IVs and tubes while they tried to stabilize him for transport. I had previously taken him to more than a handful of doctors and two hospitals and an emergent care. It was the third hospital when my son was barely breathing after being kicked out of the previous hospital only three hours prior. My son was only a month old. He had tests and they missed the clear diagnosis. I found what I thought it was online and I was told no, no, no. Third hospital I ran in screaming for help and the NICU head doctor, who was paralyzed, saw me and was listening to what I was screaming and he said the actual diagnosis. The same I figured out. They struggled to stabilize him and a special transport from a children’s hospital from hours away had to come - made for infants with NICU trauma doctor and two nurses. Then a surgeon had to be flown in from half way across the country. All I did was type the symptoms and test results online and got three results which I knew two were wrong. The third hospital NICU doctor knew his stuff the previous had not. They wouldn’t listen to my “WebMD diagnosis” they trashed me for. Now though, my son wouldn’t have almost died and had such a horrible touch and go surgery because he wouldn’t have been moments from death. He would have been diagnosis two weeks prior and more than likely wouldn’t be about to have another surgery due to receiving care so late as a newborn. If AI saves lives and helps with quality of life this is one of the few times I say use it to its fullest capability.
