The best way I found to explain the difference in feeling between generative AI and art made by humans goes like this:
You can buy machine-made cookies at the store. The only human input in their creation was a worker at a factory dumping ingredients into hoppers and letting the machine do its thing. The dough was mixed, portioned, shaped, baked and then counted and packaged, likely without a single instance of human intervention outside of maybe someone removing broken cookies from the conveyor. The final outcome is a cookie that tastes... pretty good. Might even be your favorite kind of cookie.
Now imagine someone you know walks up to you and says "hey, I baked you some cookies!". Even if against all odds they taste exactly the same as the store-bought ones, they're not going to feel the same because you know someone made it with intent. There is a human touch to it, and despite all attempts at changing that by turning everything, including entertainment, into an interchangeable commodity, humans value the work of other humans. You can't mass-produce humanity.
