The issue is "generative Ai". It isn't the only AI tool available, and doesn't need to work alone, and you don't need to use 1 AI to cover the whole process. We have had very good speech to text for decades now that work for phone trees. We have had very good form input programs for decades too. We don't need dynamically generated voice output, just text to speech, or scripted outputs. Couple that with an escapechanism to escalate a drive through order to a humanif an error is hit, and you can have a very reliable system. Cutting corners by using the "AI of the gaps" to do more than what it is good at.... Yeah, it's not going to work.
