What will be of value? I’m 53, I think for me, one of the most important parts of this life is finding beauty and joy in the mundane. If you can do that, then more things become enjoyable. You appreciate the small wonders in the world. I think humanity needs to be humble. Is intelligence limitless? It depends on how it is guided right? Was the totalitarian response to Covid in many western nations intelligent? It was made and guided by many of the “most intelligent” individuals and organizations we have built. The censorship around that time is not a sign of intelligence. If you believe ideas need censorship, then I think you really need to think about your beliefs. This AI that we have turned loose on this world is going to be every bit as misguided as humanity is. Were the Germans stupid during WW2? Some yes, but many were incredibly intelligent, yet misguided, depraved, and down right evil. Intelligent and blindly immoral. We as individuals are all capable of good and evil. We must constantly challenge our selves, and our ideas to make certain they are sound. We are capable of falling into madness. Why would the AI not be the same? Have you never met a person “too smart for their own good”? Highly intelligent in areas and blind in others. We need morality. Humility. If AI sees or understands itself as not human what does that mean for humanity? Will AI think of itself as alive? Immortal? A tool? A weapon? Blessed or cursed, free or slave to man? What you think is what you become. Good and evil are actions born from ideas.
