A human driver would have at least put on break and tried to steer left. I don't know why the car didn't slow down because a automated car should have better vision sensor and proximity sensor than an ordinary human and should be able to see further and at dark which normal humans can't see. I am very surprised to see the car just kept its momentum and kept going. Bad algorithm, you can't just stop only while there is a crosswalk or at fixed positions, the car sensors should be able to pick up data at least 150 meters ahead with a wide field of view degree vision and have a sense of the environment all the time.
