One thing that all those AI-folks are missing is that if artists stop producing art simply because they get pushed out of the art industry is that there will be no new art, no new art styles and so on and this will affect in the end also their AI models. They will be not able to produce new unique art with their models. Everything will repeat itself with new art styles, painting and rendering techniques and therefore the value of the generated are will slowly fall down a cliff, because people will simply get bored. Why is it such a problem for those folks to understand that if they lose their source to feed their AI model they will be eventually sooner or later also on the losing side. Evertything is interconnected and there is even a proper analogy with capitalism. Capitalism is in pursue to maximize profits over anything, right? One of the plenty ways to achieve max profits is to cut workers wages. Best case scenario is when workers work for free. The problem with that is that workers cant work for free because they need to money to survive. If a company decides to not pay their workers those workers will leave and the company will go bankrupt. This means that companies need to pay their workers. Now in the place of the company put the AI-model and in the place of the workers put artists in. The conclusion out of this analogy is that artists need to get compensation otherwhise those will leave their artist carriers and in the long run the AI-models will not be able to be feed with new unique art.
