It just makes it easier to create good looking images without needing to spend hours on it.” Even if you ignore the many, MANY valid arguments usually used against AI, this take still betrays a fundamental lack of understanding of creativity. Art is not defined by a collection of lines arranged in an aesthetically pleasing configuration. Technical skill is absolutely important, but the meaning comes from being purposeful inefficient - spending time and resources you could use to produce objective utility on fulfilling a simple wish to create for the sake of creating, and every word or brushstroke is an expression of that creativity. By replacing the arduous, inefficient process of creating with the act of shoving a few words into a soulless algorithm and maybe yelling at it to try harder a few times, you are ripping the very soul of the creative process out of the artwork - every last shred of meaning is stripped away in the name of efficiency and ease of use. What you’re left with is less than the sum of its parts - perfectly serviceable for chasing clout, getting your jollies off or spreading political disinformation, but entirely devoid of meaning because the process of creating it is inherently unable to comprehend meaning. And no, you do not, in fact, “deserve” to be able to create art with none of the effort that actual artists put in, just as incels don’t “deserve” a girlfriend (the ven-digram of AI enthusiasts and incels is probably just a circle, so I’m not sure how effective that point is, but hey-ho). If you don’t want to put in the effort to become a good artist, then commission the art you want. If you don’t want to pay an artist, just deal with not having a perfect depiction of whatever it is you want drawn. Don’t give your support to the art-stealing propaganda machines just for the sake of your convenience.
