Initially I felt like this video was going to be a nuanced take on AI art because you had talked about enjoying content made by AI, but it seems you just made the same “AI bad” argument by the end of it. Have you seen Neural Viz? It’s my favorite AI content, I think it’s written, maybe voiced by real people, but definitely AI type visuals. I don’t like most AI generated content, but I also don’t like most human generated content. Good content/art is good. I understand the emotional argument for wanting humans to be the creators of art, but there isn’t really any logic to that. Let’s say hypothetically, we make a robot that experiences consciousness the same way humans do, and can create completely original art (I doubt this would happen in our lifetime). Are we against that too? What makes them different from a human? The only “logical” argument for them being less valid than a human is a religious/spiritual one. If you believe humans have souls or something that goes beyond what any machine can possess, then you’ll never respect even a robot that is fundamentally human in all other aspects. Modern AI is obviously nothing like that. Modern AI realistically shouldn’t even be called AI; it’s not an intelligent system, it’s an algorithm. The illusion of intelligence comes from random seed values. If you have the same prompt and the same seed, it will generate the same results. Calling that “intelligent” is like saying Minecraft world generation is AI. Anyways, I’m kinda just rambling, but I just wanted to say I’m disappointed in the lack of nuance. The video was well made and you are a good writer/speaker. But I suppose any perspective online that isn’t ultimately anti-AI will result in community backlash, so might as well just feed the audience what they want.
