“Technically bad drawings”. I think this is where the disconnect is for AI “artists” and genuine artists. My roommate is a very talented artist and I think they do beautiful work, but one thing they do is they will talk about every flaw and imperfection both in their art and in other peoples’. It’s demoralizing because those of us who are less gifted don’t see the flaws at all, we just see more creativity. So when I draw something that doesn’t look normal or might have a weird perspective, showing it to my artist friend is usually met with something like “Oh nice! Just keep practicing and you won’t have those sucky looking angles and shading!”… but to me I drew it that way because that’s my style. However if I use AI art, the worst comment I can ever get is “Oh the AI messed up the hand”. It’s the AI that sucks, not me. I think artists themselves are their own biggest critics but that this fact bleeds out into their interactions with others sometimes. The truth is that anything drawn from the heart can’t possibly be objectively or “technically bad”. Art is an expression, it can only be misunderstood. But this is what often can lead to people shutting down and not bothering to try their hand at genuine art anymore, the feeling of their art not being good enough when they themselves WERE pleased with it which is all that should matter.
