I find this so funny, because the first time I picked up a pencil, I discovered I actually had some innate talent for drawing - yeah, I was following a tutorial, and I knew it would take a lot of work to get to where I could make the things I was learning to draw specifically to make, but I knew from the first time I tried that I could do it... and then at almost the same time I developed rheumatoid arthritis and faced a choice - I could spend thousands of hours painfully learning to draw, or I could spend that time doing what I was already good at and enjoyed, writing. I only have so much time left being able to hold a pen. So I put my sketchbook away and went back to my notebooks. Almost ten years later, I've had to move to a keyboard because of the pain, and I still haven't made that graphic novel - but I have almost earned enough from my writing that I can afford to pay an artist to collaborate on it. And I don't regret that decision for a moment. So not only is talent unnecessary, it's not even sufficient - it takes hard work, determination, and a dose of luck. (Also, I would rather see my graphic novel ideas die in my head than use AI. Because I know the value an artist will bring - the value of the skills and experience I decided not to develop.)
