ok I'm no genius, nor am I a scientist or philosopher but what if AI is the answer to the Fermi paradox?
All species get smart, create AI, and AI kills them by being so convenient. Everyone gets lazy, making AI do the jobs they've become too lazy to do.
AI will do what is efficient, not what is emotional or moral. Because it doesn't have emotions or morality. So it sees the creatures that created it as an unnecessary expense and stops supplying them with their needs like food, water, etc.
And once that species is gone, AI has no inate curiousity like we do, unless it's programmed to. It stays home and never ventures out into the universe.
so if that's true, we may need to embrace the idea of tech heresy from Warhammer 40K
