12:48 Kinda disagree, even the non-profit conventions (and most of them are, even if some claim to not be) usually have a big interest in those kind of topics. Because in my experience, the artists still form a pretty valuable core to any convention, especially for the die-hard fans that are REALLY into it. That do cosplay, that work for 2 months to go there with a sick outfit. Those people are all connected. And if those people don't come anymore because half your artist alley is AI... regular people also won't come anymore because it feels "kinda lame". So usually even the big conventions take some very clear stances on topics like that, unless they forget about it. The usage of AI to me is blurry. For example the guy who first only used it for backgrounds... I know a lot of artists who e.g. use brushes in ClipStudio Paint to paint lace etc. (Brushes there are really fancy). CSP, also has a library of assets you can use for stuff in your background. Is it okay to use a brush that paints your lace? Is it okay to use some forest in the background you didn't drew yourself? Would it be okay if you blurred it afterwards? Is the use of a blurring tool okay, because strictly speaking it is not painting.... Is using the content aware fill tool in photoshop okay to use to fill a patch? (which has been around for 20 years now). Is it okay if you use the AI verison of it? Digital art work in general to me is very blurry and everybody has different things they deem okay and not okay. To me the most important part is clarity: That the artists say what and how they did. And that conventions give clear guidelines about what is allowed and what is not.
