I think your average person GREATLY overestimates how far away computers are to the human consciousness. Today’s computers are insanely efficient with data and it’s amazing, but as pointed out, they can be really damaging without society enforcing restrictions.
Hell were already seeing a lot of this bullshit with bots, attempting to replace writers and artists with AI, etc.
I have faith in the technology being amazing tools. I also have faith in the absolute failure of governments and businesses to actually be responsible with this.
