Unconditional Basic Income has been LONG overdue! It also does not require post-scarcity or AI to justify it, but now that we know things will continue to trend in that direction, they make UBI's necessity even more undeniable. Various forms of it have been proposed many times over the last century, MLK advocated for it, and even Nixon almost passed his own version of it. Neither post-scarcity or AI had anything to do with why, it was just a better idea, even back then. It's a FAR better way to help people and keep people from falling through the cracks, and it ends up more than paying for itself, by the economic growth and new wealth it creates in society.
