hm this definitely made me see how to tackle AI differently. true incentives matter. if getting a degree as a signifier wouldnt matter to the workforce. the number of programs will be dropped. only those as you said that need the actual classes to learn how to directly do something in their job like engineering or other hard sciences would probably be more common. humanities and social sciences would still exist but only for those who would be going into the academe/producing research. i would like to think that after basic education people would be incentivized to do something that would get them experience to get the job like apprenticeships , where you can be taught by your mentor things for the job that AI cannot do. another part of college is the network you build. so it would be good to have something replace that as well
