To be totally honest, the technology itself I don’t have much issue with *as a tool*. I think machine learning generators have a lot of potential to be a tool for streamlining different processes, similar to any other tool or machine made over the course of history. The main issue I have with it is the theft itself, and especially the theft combined with putting most or all functions of them behind a paywall.
Edit: Just to be clear, I’m incredibly glad things like nightshade were created. Regulation on AI tech I don’t think will be coming for a long while, so I think it’s incredibly good and really important that tools are developed to defend against AI scrapers to reduce A: stolen art, and B: generators’ ability to make false images and audio of real people.
