As somone who has done this before we do it for a few reasons but here's a few
1. Real therapy is expensive and scary especially to people who've either never had it or had a bad experience with it
2. Researching a therapist takes time whereas I could go onto chatgpt right now and get it to tell me a summary of what I should do
3. Its programed to agree with the user so it makes us feel better about our problems where as a real therapist wouldn't downplay our problems and instead would point them out and make us talk about them in detail
