I’ve been *literally forced* into using ai in my programming centric job. It’s forced me to stare the abyss in the face and you know what i’ve noticed? What the ai is really bad at, and what it is super human at. And i have begun to view this a bit like hand carved furniture. How many of us have a house filled with handmade EVERYTHING. But you *can* still buy it, and it comes at a premium. So, my belief is that once AI output is properly flagged as such, the core consumer will follow human artists they love. What you’re losing is the shallow customer/employer.
I’m a writer. The flood of ai slop books is depressing. But also, what if an ai could read every book on amazon and give recommendations for human made books to a reader? The ai would literally know millions of unknown books. Instant recall and recommendation. Who is going to be “found” by ai recognizing a diamond in the refuse? This is not a zero-sum game, even if it is anxiety-producingly unpredictable.
