Humans farther north of the equator got lighter skin to get enough vitamin D but the lighter skin helped get less UV light. People closer to the equator got darker skin to compensate for harsher UV, but also to help absorb enough vitamin D, that's super simplified but its basic as I can go). According to most human eyes and definitely technology, asians look like Asians as much as Africans look like Africans and Americans look like Americans. Facial recognition works by pin pointing certain features. Yes it's never going to be accurate, but it helps narrow it down IMMENSELY. It's helped stop terrorism, mass murderers, white supremacists/other extremist groups, and any other criminals. No science is ever a perfect science. The most it can be is a pretty close science. Its not "racist" and I'm a darker skinned man saying that. Yes, false matches happen more often with dark skinned people than fair skin. But its based on population. Evolutionarily, there are FAR more fair skinned people than dark skinned. More light skinned people vs less dark skinned people means that population numbers are higher for dark skinned people for any kind of scale. Criminal, famous, dead, needing glasses. A less populated group has bigger ratios than the larger population. Thats just a fact we live with. Sorry.
