The robots are here. A whole lot of offshore manufacturing and distribution coming back into the USA will be automated. The same goes for the service industry. A.I. will run operations and self-improve at breathtaking speed. It can work in the dark 24/7 with no holidays or vacations, health benefits, childcare or retirement plans. Most robots will not resemble humans, come in all sizes and communicate in real time with each other. The big question is how people can afford to buy what is being produced if they're jobs are being taken away? Truck drivers are just the tip of the proverbial iceberg. There will be massive disruption in the "old way" of doing things. One can easily envision huge social upheaval and sabotage as the disenfranchised rage against the machine. Ethically, people could potentially be perceived as just in the way and the Industrial revolution will be looked upon as quaint. Change is happening all around us in ways about which we are not aware. In many ways it is already too late to stop it.
