I think if autonomous cars really are as cheap per mile as many are saying, the roads are going to be flooded. Personally anytime I hear of anything interesting going on I would just send my Tesla over there and view it through the remote cameras… Need something from the store? Why wait for Amazon to deliver it tomorrow, I’ll send my Tesla over to Target Have them put something in the frunk for me…
Granted I think eventually these cars will be able to travel much more efficiently than human operated vehicles… Precisely synchronized intersections, etc. And I suppose there can be less parking lots but there are gonna be way more vehicles on the road.
