well it isn't exactly like AI did the art, it stole it and replicated it with some changes, the problem with AI is the lack of an artist intentionality behind it which makes meaningful changes. artist "steal" all the time but they use very intentional and hand picked choices that culminate in something greater than the sum of its parts. the ai can make songs, but we already have music software that simplifies the process greatly. can AI never make a great song because of it? no, it definitly can but it needs a humans taste to approve of it so large portions of AI music is just not gonna be approved and that's really it. why would it be any different with art? we have so many cheats in art today that it's not far from AI art already, you could just load up 3d assets in a 3d program and paint over it, many pipelines already do. but it's like cameras, not every person with a camera is a good photographer but more or less everyone today have a camera. so it's really just down to human taste. to say that you have to have a band with real instruments is the same as telling someone art has to be made by hand on a canvas but i think AI art is such a scummy thing just for the fact that it steals and works off of others hard earned work without doing any of the work itself. but in any case art as a skill will never die, painting on canvases with oil paint didn't go away just because digital came to exist, there's no reason to think that digital painting will seize existing just because AI art exists. it's just more about preference, and an artist mind is not something that just is, it's something that is cultivated by trial and error in which an artist grow appreciation for certain things that gives them their unique taste in choices, that is ultimately what an artist offers, their taste and their experience with the medium.
