This is one of the most deeply affecting interviews I have seen for a long while. Such a clearly clever and empathetic, thoughtful and moral man basically telling us that it's a roll of dice whether we all get Terminated and the only thing we can control is if it happens fast or slow ... ... ...
From the very time I first heard about the AI development actually showing signs of being useful I have had only dystopian feelings about it. Because even if it is utterly benign and only acts to do what it can to make life easy for us, that will destroy us. Because if we have no purpose then we wither. It's just the same as has happened to every people that has come into contact with cultures more technologically advanced than them - they descend into depression and disfunction.
EDIT: And as a fellow who lost a wonderful wife to cancer, oh boy did I feel that pause when Geoffrey was being as English as possible in marshalling his emotions when talking about her. I lost her thirteen years ago and there are still days when, out of the blue, the tears come.
