At 72 there’s not a lot I can do except try to understand AI more but I am disturbed by the lack of safety as it speeds up in development & in “replacing” humans in jobs in particular. What about jobs involving human touch & emotional & mental connection? Nursing, care jobs, therapeutic treatment, hairdressing, counselling, etc? Are we going to be totally controlled by robots in these instances- I cannot imagine it. A self drive car is scary enough! Thank you Steven for this fascinating dive into a future that is unimaginable for many. When I think back to my childhood without a fridge, wall to wall carpet, a telephone, central heating, a car, with no travel outside of the UK, and no TV, when we had very little money, my memory is one of great friends, very close family ties, imaginative play, lots of talk & connection to others, reading books, learning, fun & games & simple adventures in nature, at school & at home. It was happy. In contrast I find the world quite depressing as we go headlong at great speed towards God only knows what! Probably our destruction…….. so as stated here, lets have as much fun & do as much as we can to enjoy our time as possible. I think I will grow old disgracefully 😂😂 Stay safe out there!
