I felt a bit uneasy watching this interview because there is a dichotomy between what Geoffrey is saying(his concerns and "empathy" for future generations)vs. his display of arrogance and intellectual elitism. He wanted to include in the interview his generational prestige and took great pride in his great, great uncle Everest conquering and naming the Himalayan peak as well as other members of his family contributing to similar level of prestige (hint of irony in the one who contributed to the Manhatten project). At one point in the interview, he admits he hasn't felt "emotionally" what it means for future generations and his children. There's no doubt he is an intelligent man. But the interview was unsettling to watch because it felt like he was a proud and mischievous child who's catastrophizing an end time (cry wolf) scenario that he personally "god fathered" and hoping to spread his own subjective beliefs to overlay it on the masses because he wants the world to see"the tin can, and not a prism". His regret towards his second wife's passing(not the first though) towards the end of the video was the most human and genuine expression he displayed throughout the whole interview. This is the type of man who over estimates his own intelligence, as well as grossly over estimating the intelligence of people in various academic fields(political and scientific a like) while undermining the general masses.(The word is elitism again) Geoffrey is a man who believes that intuition(intangible) is the masterkey to success(I agree) But also claims to only believe in materialism while holding firm as strictly an agnostic. He is a very interesting mix of hypocrisy that must make AI have a(self aware)blast while dissecting his personality and oddly charming boomer doomer dichotomy.
