The AI doesnt scare me. People using it does. I think AI is a great thing. A pure diluted essence of all the knowledge created by humankind, at your fingertips. I think it is the final convergence of our relationshhip with data. First breakthrough was writing, we could record knowledge and transfer it across generations. Second was printing press, we could rapidly distribute this knowledge. Third was the Internet, even faster distribution across the globe and cross link it, so we can find information we want easily. And finally AI. All of it in one single spot, and we can make it do inference.
Theh bad thing about is that all this power is set to benefit only a handful of individuals at the cost of many. We dont have an AI problem, we have a society problem.
