Productivity improvement over the last 25 years has not translated into increased living standards because the benefits are being used to create play-work for workers doing useless work and for those workers who are actually doing real work, those jobs are being outsourced to the developing world. AI will not change this unless globalisation is wound back a lot. I suspect AI will have a very large negative impact on white collar workers and on work which is repetitive and requires no skills.
