AI art is still terrible. It's like it makes sense until you look a little closer, and then it's usually like a horrible toddler crayon/Chtulhu mashup. The tech can get composition and color, but not coherent structure or intent or even decent representation. In short, it doesn't understand what it's doing, and it shows. It reminds me of the many digital artists out there who can color and shade and texture so beautifully that your first impression is "that's like photoreal!" but then you see they can't actually draw hands or proportion a body or manage basic perspective. Except it's worse because the AI can't even do that much. It's all finish and no foundation. And the gulf the tech would have to cross to fix that fundamental problem is very, very, very wide. ...
