Many students asked me if their education will continue to matter? So I decided to answer for all of us now 1. Education as a necessary input for human creativity • AGI can efficiently combine existing knowledge, but humans have a special ability for non-linear, erratic intuition. • Without prior knowledge, the brain cannot create new art, new mathematical theories, or groundbreaking insights - because then it has nothing to build on. • Education therefore serves not only as job preparation, but as "food for the creative brain" so that it can be innovative in the few remaining extremely phenomenal professions. 2. Investors and their logic - education as a strategic necessity? • Investors are pragmatic: everything that promises a return on investment (ROI) remains. • If only an elite of highly educated people remain to create new markets, develop new AI paradigms, or create groundbreaking works of art, then education remains an economic necessity. • It could be that universal education for all becomes economically irrelevant, but highly specialized education remains indispensable for a creative elite. 3. The transition to a true ASI world • As long as AGI replaces “only” 90% of jobs, there are still human niches that will remain. • As soon as ASI is there, which can really do everything – including real creative creativity – then education will actually become economically superfluous. • But until then, education will remain the prerequisite for the last remaining human domains.
