Presently the majority of humans on this planet think that life was created and designed by some type of intelligent designer. So far I do not think there any evidence of this but, religions of all stripes and denominations offer many different ideas and stories about how magical authorities living in the sky, were able to do this using supernatural powers. If this is true, I think we humans would also be some type of artificial intelligence. From the evidence we have so far, it appears that human intelligence has been naturally created by the laws of physics, chemistry and biology and that an intelligent designer was not necessary, however, artificial intelligence would need humans to be the intelligent designer. If an intelligent designer is not necessary to create something with intelligence like humans, my thinking is that the intelligent thing that was created without an intelligent designer will always be superior to an intelligent thing that needed an intelligent designer to design it. And if natural intelligences will always be superior, it will always be able to control artificial intelligence. Furthermore, natural intelligence would be able to develop anywhere in the universe, but artificial intelligence would need natural intelligence to design it. I don’t think we have to be too concerned about artificial intelligence wiping out humans, what we have to be concerned about is what we have always been concerned about since humans started dominating the planet. And that is humans lying, deceiving, abusing, conquering, enslaving and killing other humans so that a small minority can live privileged lives by controlling a majority. And sure, humans can use artificial intelligence to help them lie, deceive, conquer, enslave and kill other humans. Maybe they can even figure out how to get artificial intelligence to do all the lying, deceiving, abusing, conquering, enslaving and killing and all the humans have to do is watch “the game” and cheer for their AI team on TV. I also do not think anyone can predict the future and those that think they can are usually disappointed. The future is unpredictable and to me that’s what’s fascinating and makes life interesting and worth living.
