Everything about this AI image generation technology is quite frustrating and I completely stand with fellow artists on this one. I'm a Computer Science student about to go into internship next year and I have doing character illustrations as my primary hobby to get away from my programming frustrations and vice versa. Seeing as the how my future career is now trampling upon one of my favorite hobbies puts me in a very awkward spot on my stance, but seeing that AI music generator solidifies my understanding that we can progress AI technology without trampling on other people's work. AI art generators seems to have decided to go into a whole different direction of f*ck-all and to hell with gathering data for their research which is shameless as those same images are now used to make quick buck, just goes to show how much of an unregulated mess this whole ordeal is. My other CS peers that are also very into visual arts are quite against the AI art situation. One of them who is using this stuff has shown me that they train their machine only using images they made by themselves, by hand, which is something I'm fine with them for doing (I sometimes submit them my abandoned art pieces to try and feed it to the AI just as curiosity to see what It could do with my artwork out of fascination). I on the other hand decided to not use these tech for any of my art projects as I wanted to have another activity that doesn't involve me staring at my screen. Anyways Merry Christmas, I hope this whole situation could be fixed soon that can satisfy both parties.
