A currency based economic system needs consumers to purchase products designed to become obsolete or outdated (Planned obsolescence) requiring consumers to purchase more products; continuing the growth of profits for corporations. The growing class of unemployed or economically disadvantaged will not be able to afford to purchase the flood of products produced by artificial general intelligence (AGI) driven automated robots. End-stage capitalism does not follow the economic Law of “supply & demand” that lowers cost due to an excess of products or free market competition when corporate greed and monopolies are the new Rule—defined as Greed-flation.
Economically, an increase in the production of products will clutter store shelves and online websites with a glut of manufactured products no one could afford. Even if an universal income or universal basic services were implemented how will Humanity socially occupy their nonproductive time if there is no need for the burden of “wage employment” to obtain shelter, clothing and nourishment? Would we “work to better ourselves . . . and the rest of humanity”?
