When governments look at populations they see GDP. When AI is the main driver of GDP, and controls law enforcement and the military, we will witness the greatest reduction in the human population in recorded history. I don't think we will be exterminated, but we won't be allowed to reproduce. In order to achieve this low birth rate, I suspect governments will drown us in pleasure and distractions. You can see it happening already.
