Did the boy ever do actual art, or did he think that it's as easy as getting AI to generate stuff that made him decide he's an artist? The reason the value of his "art" has dropped, is because people can't know for sure that he created it himself...pretty much anything he sells now is suspect.
Those of us who actually create art don't give a fuck what he thinks of us...we're real, he's fake. Even my crudest, most worthless bit of drawing is more valuable than anything generated by AI.
