I stay convinced that with good architecture, isolating features/components to stay within the context window of, for example opus 4.6, you can replace nearly 100% of the work of junior developpers. However i see in my company that this productivity gain is not translated in layoffs but in faster development and juniors being supervisors.
Eliminating developers is a chymera but the job will inevitably evolve massively with AI progression and phasing to AI-frieldly architectures/codebases.
