At first there will be lanes only for self driving cars. It will start on the motorways and then spread through cities, with city centres being self driving EVs only. After a while motorways will only be for self driving cars. By this point normal cars will be banned. If things going the way they are today, in about 20 years you will no longer be allowed to drive a car.
