Due to its gimmicky name, many incorrectly believe that A.I. is actually "intelligent," that the computer "thinks," "knows," "understands," "reasons," etc.
As the man says, large language models merely use brute force to spit out words which statistically are likely to follow the ones immediately preceding them (and clever trickery is also added so that every so often words which are second- or third- or 10th-most likely, etc., are chosen, so as to simulate idiosyncracies in human speech patterns).
While the output of these programs - especially the visual/graphic and musical A.I.s - is often impressive, it is created not by a "thinking" entity, but rather by means not essentially dissimilar to those utilized in a common calculator - like every other computer program that executes simple commands (albeit, highly sophisticated in their arrangement).
