I think it’s not entirely the AI’s fault. Why people go talk to AI? Because of several reasons like being able to talk to them without judgement, because they feel alone, etc. It’s a society problem. At his age, I was also super sick mentally and I also had the same desires he had. It took me everything to have help and it wasn’t enough. The reason why? Because the intervenants were not qualified for the severity of my case. I was "too young to be depressed". Because of that, I couldn’t see a psychologist. I had to be 18, and even being older, it was hard to find help. Not everyone has the strength to wait for too long undiagnosed and not treated. Teens are severely lacking resources to help them. That’s why they end up like him 😔
Just to say how long it took me to get good help from a good professional, I had to wait until I was 20. That’s how bad the system is.
