Generative ai isn't any different than the roll-to-create-a-character websites or "1,000 story threads for your next gonzo YA dystopia novel" lists we all used in the early 2000s - it is a tool that someone worked on to provoke inspiration and smooth over the gaps when your solo brainstorming session leaves the bountiful neuron ridges valley and ends up stuck on 15 miles of smoothbrain interstate.
The problem is NEVER the tools, it is ALWAYS the user - for every DnD session that was a completely unique homebrew that would be remembered for years, you'd still have those snob DMs who only ever played official content and tried to belittle anyone who didn't.
That being said, it's still a crutch, and anyone who uses it exclusively and never develops the skills to correct or expand on it should be rightly compared to the Sonic OC recolor era. Donut steal!
