Buddism is not a faith as you understand. It is a faith of existential confrontation, not a faith of consolation rooted in the good grace of a creator God. Nor is Buddhism atheistic. It is a deeply faith based theistic practice with clear moral codes of practice: to do no harm, to not taken the not given, to not enagage in sexual misconduct, to not lie gossip or misrepresent, nor to become intoxicated with drink drugs or ideas. It has a path which devotees are called upon to follow the enobling 8 fold path; Right Understanding (all things are impermanent), Right Intent (goodwill) Right Speech, Right Action (do no harm), Right Livelihood (no harm), Right Effort (compassionate), Right Mindfulness, and Right Concentration. Mindfulness is only one limb of the life long devotional practice. This faith practice requires the individual in association with other to have faith in their own ability to put this practice into action, for the benefit of themselves and others. It is not a revelation punished by a creator God (s) if transgressed, we suffer because of our own and unskilful behaviour acting out of the ignorance of greed and hate, rooted in the delusion we are a fixed separate self, rather than profoundly (and ineffably) connected with all beings. Hell or heaven is here and now. And in that it is our responsibility to create and curate. This takes a profound faith. A fairh that says we are fully responsible its up to us, not a creator God. A God who Buddhism may or may not exist, but who not is neither the creator or arbiter of our existences, we are. That of course for you may well be blasphemous (because from a Buddist theology you hold to a fixed view of the nature of existence with a creator (male) God at the heart of it. The question I have my fellow Glaswiegan then is? Is this blasphemous enough for you to harm me, is your view so fixed in its righteousness to condemn me for heresy? I like to imagine not. Though I wonder. For that which you accuse others would you not for the sake of your own fixed belief not condemn this fellow Glaswiegn who happens to practice the Buddha Dharma who wishes you no harm but peace and goodwill on this earth here and now in this precious fleeting life sacred life with its 10000 joys and 10000 sufferings.
