They're telling us this is for Ai, I think it's much more than what's being told to the public. Data centers annual increases in energy consumption should not compete with the locals or be solely under the oversight of local politicians. They should have State and Federal oversight too. If they are generating income they should be taxed. If they're being federally subsidized and don't generate income to contribute to the local tax base, then they should be located outside household areas that are within city limits. Otherwise they are just preying on the local taxpayers.
