15% or 27% is NOT a majority of their income...all Americans need to start looking at paying taxes as a national duty and something they are happy to do to help every one of their fellow citizens instead of some horrible thing to be fought against at all costs. Also, wealthy people should just be encouraged to voluntarily opt-out of the UBI, it may only be a few million, but it would help the cost side. I also think a UBI would also help former inmates who are having trouble finding jobs because of convictions and other groups of people that are secretly discriminated against unjustly to make a better life for themselves and by proxy their community. I am really getting fed up with the constant argument of "we can't do this x program because it will cost too much" argument, it has become too easy of a reason for all of humanity to fix the ongoing societal problems in the world...I personally do not care how much money it takes to feed every person anymore, GET IT DONE! We have more than enough food produced, it just isn't getting there because someone doesn't want to move it there because they won't give you paper with dead white people on it...that is a dumb reason for other humans to die of starvation, no wonder aliens haven't made contact yet, we are too stupid to give up on our need for commerce over that of simple compassion for other people or other life, rather we defer to base commerce and use that as a justification to allow suffering where it does not need to be, and that is only in the context of food availability...there are many other examples...not just from the US by the way.
