I buy food from the store a lot. You know the kind; throw it into a microwave and it's done. I work pretty late and can't be bothered to cook.
There are some pretty good microwaveable dishes, but I still sometimes eat at a privately owned takeaway or restaurant.
Why?
Because that's food made by a human being. They bring their own style and flare or quality to what they make, even if it's one of many pizzerias or Thai food places.
Generating an AI image is the equivalent of going to the supermarket, buying a few microwavable ingredients, and then claiming I cooked dinner.
Terms like "accessibility" or "democratising art" also really piss me off; like you I started drawing with nothing but a cheap stack of A4 printer paper and my pencils for school work. ANYONE can be an artist if they're willing to put the effort into it.
But AI generated images has nothing to do with skill, or talent. It's instant gratification. It's what a normal person thinks they should be able to do to a real artist for free.
