I know my opinion will not be popular however I believe this mother was controlling and manipulative in trying to force her son to continue in a sport where he had lost interest. It seems like she did not have control over or interest in other areas of his life. How did she not know that her 14 year old was abusing the character AI program? I believe she is partly to blame. I am sorry that this boy committed suicide, but I cannot find a way to place all of the blame on the online relationship. This mother should have taken more of a role in this minor boy‘s life. She seems a bit self centered and apparently lost focus where it was needed. She wants to blame AI where she is the one who failed this boy first.
