As long as scientists are treated like gods, and have free reign to do and create whatever they want, good or bad, a bad ending is guaranteed. Keeping up with AI fanaticism mankind will become lemmings, excitedly running off a cliff.. Tyranny by others will seem like pure freedom compared to the tyranny by a dead, lifeless, soulless machine. Nations that reject it and ban it will be better off in the long run even if they're poor.
