I'm in the middle as a 3d artist and a computer scientist. In think that from a purely programming perspective, it's a brilliant technology and it's incredibly interesting with how it works and Im not opposed to it advancing. I am however, opposed to the methods ai companies have used to train their models. Using copyrighted work in that way is both illegal and immoral. I would be pissed if it could generate images replicating my work (even if it's mediocre at best). So while I don't think AI image gen Is the spawn of Satan, I do think that the methods by which companies have trained ai is terrible and they should be sued. Also Redditors who claim to be "real artists" despite only using AI frustrate me.
