The lashing out at anyone critical just speaks to the idea that AI (particularly GenAI) is currently a sort of proto-religion. They're not just users of AI, they're AI Users™, which is why criticizing their robogod feels like criticizing them.
I would also suspect there's some identity tied up in staying supportive of the tech bros themselves; even parasocial proximity to wealth and power feels like they have it themselves, and so criticizing the tech bros and their monstrosity, again, feels like criticizing the individual.
